Waiting
It is hard when an editor to whom you have sent five pieces for consideration sends you back rejection emails for two of the pieces but no word concerning the others. It's probably good news, yes, since it means the other three are being kept for closer scrutiny. It's also a bit... aaahhhrrrrgggh!
The woodwork down here by the floor is very tasty, in case you're wondering.

Very funny. Can you share what kind of pieces? Even a general description? Even if you can't, I hope you have good luck with the other three! Let us know.
I'm wishing you an acceptance notification!
Thanks for the encouragement. Maureen and Susan, you warm my heart. Randy, you crack me up.
I hate to care very deeply when I make submissions, and usually don't bother. There a lots of reasons pieces get turned down, many of them having very little to do with the quality of work, even: the issue is already filled or the subject matter or tone just doesn't suit what the editor is looking for, etc... Still, I have to admit, I'd like this one to take something. It's a brand new Christian literary journal that looks very, very promising. Their first issue (the last one) opened with work by Luci Shaw and Scott Cairns, both "names" in the Christian poetry world, and well worthy of it.
Shall report what I know when I know it. :)
